Grace Changes Everything

It is possible to speak often about Christian living and still lose sight of Christ. We can become so focused on what we must do that we forget what He has already done.

The gospel brings us back to the centre: Jesus Christ.

Paul summarises this good news in 1 Corinthians 15:1–4: Christ died for our sins, He was buried, and He rose again on the third day, according to the Scriptures. These events are the foundation of our faith. Jesus bore our sins on the cross, and through His death and resurrection, we are reconciled to God.

We receive this salvation by grace through faith. We cannot earn it through obedience, good works, or religious effort. As Ephesians 2:8–9 reminds us, salvation is God’s gift, leaving no room for boasting. Our confidence rests in Christ’s finished work.

But grace also changes how we live.

Through Christ, we enter a new life, guided and empowered by the Holy Spirit. We turn from sin, put aside the desires of the flesh, and grow in love, faithfulness, and the other fruit the Spirit produces. Good works become our response to God’s grace, rather than our attempt to earn it.

This life may bring opposition. Following Jesus means remaining faithful to Him even when His truth costs us the approval of others. Yet we live in the freedom of belonging to God, with His glory as our aim.

The gospel has not changed. Its centre remains a Person: Jesus Christ—crucified, risen, and Lord.

That is where our focus must remain. As we trust Him, teach His truth, and let His light shine through our lives, may all the glory go to Him.
